چکیده
As the performance of electronic tracking devices improves dramatically, their use opens up new areas of investigation. The movements of individuals can be linked to physiology, environmental conditions and group behaviour, report back on otherwise inaccessible parts of the biosphere, and warn us of disease spread and natural disasters. Michael Gross reports.

Time to see the bigger picture: Individual differences in the attentional blink
If two to-be-identified targets are presented in close temporal succession, identification for the second target is typically impaired. This attentional blink (AB) phenomenon has long been considered as a robust, universal cognitive limitation. However, more recent studies have demonstrated that AB task performance greatly differs between individuals, with some individuals even showing no AB in...
متن کاملA Novel Image Encryption Model Based on Hybridization of Genetic Algorithm, Chaos Theory and Lattice Map
Encryption is an important issue in information security which is usually provided using a reversible mathematical model. Digital image as a most frequently used digital product needs special encryption algorithms. This paper presents a new encryption algorithm high security for digital gray images using genetic algorithm and Lattice Map function. At the first the initial value of Logistic Map ...
متن کاملRhetorical Structure Analysis of EFLs’ Written Narratives of a Picture Story
This study was set to reveal how second language learners use rhetorical relations in their written narratives in terms of Rhetorical Structure Theory (RST) primarily proposed by Mann & Thompson (1987) and developed by Mann, Matthiessen & Thompson (1992). To this end, sixty written narratives based on the picture story book ‘Frog, where are you?’ were collected from EFL learners and were put to...
متن کاملNear-infrared spectroscopy can reveal increases in brain activity related to animal-assisted therapy
[Purpose] Previous studies have indicated that animal-assisted therapy can promote recovery of psychological, social, and physiological function in mental disorders. This study was designed as a pilot evaluation of the use of near-infrared spectroscopy to objectively identify changes in brain activity that could mediate the effect of animal-assisted therapy. [Subjects and Methods] The participa...
